Deep in the heart (clap clap) of Texas, Tx, United States
I am a veteran and the wife of a soldier. Together we have spent our adult lifetime serving our Nation, it's soldiers and families that support it. We have lived all over the country and experienced more then we ever expected. It is a life I love and one that I hold very close to me, but one that is bittersweet, filled with both joy and sacrifice, friendship and loss...but it is never without hope.
Haha I lived in Texas two years and that video is so true. I remember a mexican resrurant that had every body mad because they flew the American, Mexican, and Texas flags at equal hight. People said how dare they fly the Mexican flag as high as the Texas flag. I asked what about the American flag? They just looked at me like a deer caught in head lights.
What the hell? You are coming to Utah soon? I'm so excited and we better get together or you can just rip up the friendship papers! I can't wait to see you guys - it has been FOREVER!
The above picture was taken moments before Donnie's unit left for Iraq in 2004. Marlys was only three months old. To date, that was the hardest day of my life. I stood there and watched them march out the door...making sure that I didn't take my eyes off of him until he was gone. I didn't know if I would ever see him again.
